The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has told its unregistered students that they risk missing tests poised for next week. The university’s academic registrar Dr Halima Wakabi Akbar says students are supposed to pay 50 percent of fees to sit for the tests.
“As you are aware Semester II 2020/2021 Academic Year continuous assessment/test/coursework shall be given on Monday 13th September 2021 to Sunday 26th September 2021, you are hereby reminded that you need to fulfill the conditions/requirements below: You must have paid 50% of the total fees, register yourself on the ERP,” Dr Akbar says in a statement.
She adds that tests shall be in form of take-home/projects etc to be submitted two weeks after the continuous assessment week.
“The purpose of this communication, therefore, is to advise you to ensure that you register yourselves as no student will access the ERP portal nor be allowed to submit the continuous assessment without being fully registered,” she says.
Dr Akbar adds ,”Deans, Heads of Department, and Lecturers are asked to ensure that continuous assessments are prepared and administered to the students in liaison with the Assistant Academic Registrar (Teaching and Learning) within the stipulated time,”
“Assistant Academic Registrar (Teaching and Learning), Deans, and Heads of Department are requested to present a report on how this exercise was carried out and which courses were examined.”
The university has advised ERP Manager Mr Sekalema Hamza to ensure that the portal is automated to take out all unregistered students.Recently, the university reduced functional fees by 20 percent. The university also scrapped off accommodation fees.
