By now it should be crystal clear, to those who have not so long left and those who have come so close to forgetting their days in SMASK, that it is no longer necessary for us, to apologise for the success and weaknesses of our school, to even feel the slightest need to explain ourselves to those with questions about the school and only seek answers to quench their fiery rumours and beliefs!!!
There’s no such thing as a perfect school-only some are much better than others. Of course, everything that’s made of man has weaknesses and strengths but while others are busy trying to cover up their weaknesses, SMASK is busy making her strengths better. how then can anyone beat or even cope with that?
I had my good times and bad times too- it would be wrong for me to simply state that the school is perfect! I have also grown up enough to understand that you can not forever blame people and judge them for the person they were in high school. Six years is a long time and some, most are only still trying to figure themselves out.
While in high school, for those that are there, it is best that you focus mainly on your own journey of discovering yourself and making the best of it while you still can!
For those that are out, appreciate the good things almost as much as you should the bad. One way or another, they formed you and laid a foundation for the path on which you more tread.
For those that have never come to appreciate the school, if you ain’t gonna change it, your opinion is as good as your useless self-best unnoticed. Reminds me of my best word in Physics, negligible. Your presence and your opinion are negligible, wrap your mind around that one and never loosen your grip!!!
For those who appreciate it, we don’t go around with the word SMASK inscribed on our fore heads but we live so diligently that the question of where we went to school is inevitable. I have heard questions like, “are you really from SMASK?” to which I cynically comment, “I was destined to go there” With time, I have been able to prove lofty judgemental people wrong.
A lecturer told two of my friends and I that our results would soon be tested once the cold straight systems of the university tested us and that they were simply a hypothesis stated by a corrupt system. Two years down the road we have still managed to be the most outstanding students in class-in character, personality, intelligence and quite obviously grades. Positively outstanding and we don’t even have to work so hard at it, somehow, it comes naturally to us!!!
You don’t get that by going to a good school that only teaches you about another school. It would appear the syllabus has topics like SMASK, a journey of 15 years, the Enchanted SMASK book one, SMASK, where reality is more fascinating than fiction! No wonder you leave school with your head files with so many feeble tales about our school that you forget what your actual examination will be-explains the grades!!!
