Well, there’s a saying that goes like ‘No man is an island’, which means, no man is perfect. Then, how there you let somebody decide for you when they, too, have missions to accomplish?
In the first instance, some of our friends tend to influence the lives we live, either positively or negatively. They come to our lives to either make them better or bitter.
Plus, they say ‘a friend in need is a friend indeed’. At least, most of us know this. So, this elaborates the kind of friends we should surround our selves with.
Of course, a wise man would opt to surround himself with friends of great value or friends that add up value to his/her being. Friends that matter and not friends that hinder.
In respect to this philosophy, ‘Birds of the same feathers flock together’, allow me share with you this. The more you associate with drunkards, the more you will spend most of your time in a bar. The more you befriend born-again souls, the more you will get closer to church and maybe prayers.
So, it’s up to us. It’s up to us to really decide for ourselves regardless of our friends’ influence. Listen to your friends, mentors, elders, relatives and even your parents but never let anyone decide for you.
When they advise you, appreciate. But if they dare want to decide for you, move on. Sometimes we have to let people down and not because of disrespect, but satisfying our hearts’ desires.
Mind you, life is too short to make all people around you happy. And not that hurting their feelings will make you great. Not really. We need to decide responsibly like they caution about alcoholism.
In all you do, stay focused and keep your head high. Remember, those at the top of the mountain didn’t just fall there. Never say never. Seasons come and others follow.
