For quite a long time, news about Kyambogo University failing to adopt Open Distance and Elearning made rounds especially when the COVID 19 pandemic necessitated it.
It is to be recalled that one of the reasons online learning wasn’t adopted earlier was because the students demonstrated a couple of times with rejection and opposition towards it.
Finally, the lecturers of the fresh year one students who recently joined the university have found it highly necessary hence adopting it. This comes when almost all lecture rooms in all faculties are being used as examination rooms for the continuing students and finalists as examinations began today.
The lack of lecture rooms for the fresh students has thus created a need for the lecturers to devise other means of conducting lectures so as to complete the course outlines by 20th April 2022 when the fresher’s begin their examinations.
Today has seen a number of fresh students studying via zoom and Google classroom around WiFi spots in campus.
One student disclosed the fact that this is how it’s going to be till 10th April when the continuing students finish their examinations.
She also said that some lecturers have resorted to evening time lectures as it is going to be rather difficult to lecture during day and yet learning must go on.
Fresh students who don’t have either laptops or smartphones for online learning are therefore being advised to look for ways on how they can keep at the same pace with their fellow students as lectures for them won’t come to a halt because of the ongoing examinations.
