Makerere University has announced the return of its much-anticipated annual bazaar, scheduled to take place from August 5th to 13th, 2024.
This event, aimed at welcoming new students to the university, has been a longstanding tradition that was paused in recent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and student clashes.
Organized by the Guild Ministry of Culture, Social Affairs, and Mobilization, the bazaar serves as a one-stop center for freshers to acquire essential commodities needed for their new life at Makerere University.
The event provides a unique opportunity for new students to familiarize themselves with campus life, meet fellow students, and purchase necessary items.
This year’s bazaar maintains a significant change in venue. Traditionally held at Mitchel Hall, the event will now take place at the Rugby Grounds, for the second successive year.
It remains to be seen if this year’s edition will draw large numbers of students, vendors, and other stakeholders to participate in the vibrant campus culture Makerere University is known for.
