Makerere University has through its Office of the Dean of Students, headed by Mrs. Winifred Kabumbuli, released fresh guidelines for the accommodation of first year students for the academic year 2021/2022.
The guidelines have indicated that all first year students are to be attached to a hall of residence as part of their identity, though that does not automatically guarantee them bed space in these halls of residence.
The Dean of Students has however noted that a few select courses on government sponsorship are entitled to automatic accommodation in the halls of residence, and for those eligible but unable to take on the accommodation, they have been enjoined to make this known to the Dean’s office before 10th January, 2022.
The guidelines have further made more clarification on the category of non-residents eligible to receive living out allowances and these include; All government-sponsored students admitted through the Diploma Entry Scheme, all government-sponsored students admitted through the Mature Age Entry Scheme and all government-sponsored students admitted through the Direct Entry Scheme for the other select courses indicated in the communique.
More details are in the official communique below;
