Thousands of Makerere University first-year students/freshers were on Monday seen attending orientation sessions at their respective colleges. Unlike the previous years when freshers would attend one orientation ceremony, this year things were different.
Our cameras captured hundreds of freshmen attending an orientation session in Lower Lecture Theatre College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The focused scientists were later advised on several rules and regulations of the university, among other things.
Being innocent first-year students, some students were seen whispering to each other while trying to understand various terms used at campus.
This year’s orientation started on Saturday, 29th January and it will continue until Friday, 4th February 2022. The seven-day orientation process will see freshers get used to campus premises ahead of their lectures.
According to the university academic calendar, first-year students will be the first to study physically on campus as others remain home learning remotely via the Makerere e-learning platform dubbed MUELE.
Freshers will then do their first set of university examinations starting on 18th April prior to the closure of the semester on 15ht May.
