The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) celebrated its 33rd Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, December 14th, 2024, at the main campus in Mbale.
The event was a momentous occasion that highlighted the university’s remarkable achievements, with a record number of 2691 students receiving degrees and diplomas.
A standout feature of this year’s graduation was the impressive representation of female students.
Statistics from the graduation list revealed that ladies comprised 56% of the graduating class, and 52% of the 320 First Class degrees awarded went to females.
Important to note is that Matege Abutwahir emerged as the top performer, receiving the prestigious Prince Badru Kakungulu Award for the best overall student.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Rt. Hon Robina Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda. She urged the graduates to be more innovative as a tool of curbing unemployment.
Another milestone was the graduation of the university’s first-ever Ph.D. candidates in education. Gyagenda Abdulswamad and Kamonges Wahab Asad, who completed their entire academic journey from Bachelor’s to Ph.D. at IUIU.
Congratulations to all!
