The department of physics at Gulu University has finalized the installation of the first ever Cathode Ray Oscilloscope machine at the University Laboratory to aid in practical sessions for science students.
The machines that cost UGX 197,751,751 namely; 4 Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes, 4 signal generators,10 dual power suppliers,10 multi meters,50 analogue meters, 2 desktop Computers, electrical components among others.
According to Gulu University HOD Physics Mr. Festo Kiragga, the installation of the machine is a big achievement to the physics department and Gulu University at large because all the practical’s are to be carried out at the university without travelling to other universities.
Gulu University Bursar Mr. Nyeko John revealed that previously, the university has been spending over UGX 20 million every year to facilitate transport, accommodation and feeding of students to travel to Makerere University to access machines of this caliber but now they are relieved from those expenses.
‘’The equipment procured would build internal capacity of the University in terms of research and would act as a big boost to lecturer’s motivation in ensuring that work is supervised from within since reliance on external Laboratory for the same has now been minimized,’’ he happily said.
