Makerere University has invested in two high-end servers, each costing Shs400 million, to support and enhance blended learning for students.
Prof. Umar Kakumba, the Acting Vice Chancellor, announced the acquisition during the dissemination of project findings for the Comprehensive Evaluation of Graduate Blended Learning (CEBL) at the university in Kampala on May 16.
The servers will serve as repositories for heavy files and videos, ensuring that students have seamless access to essential learning materials. This initiative is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to integrate technology into education and improve the overall learning experience.
Prof. Kakumba emphasized the importance of these servers in facilitating blended learning, which combines online digital media with traditional classroom methods.
The new infrastructure is expected to significantly enhance the capacity for storing and managing large volumes of educational content, benefiting both students and faculty.
This investment underscores Makerere University’s commitment to advancing educational technology and providing high-quality learning resources to its students.
