Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) students have found a powerful ally in their pursuit of academic excellence with the invention of the MUST PastPapers app.
Developed by graduates Mugisha Edgar and M. Nabende Fahad under Eriville Corporation, this innovative app aims to provide students with easy access to academic resources, particularly past papers, to enhance their exam preparation and improve performance.
Both Mugisha and Nabende graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Science at the recently concluded MUST 29th graduation ceremony in May.
According to Mugisha and Nabende, the MUST PastPapers app revolutionizes the way students access past papers by adopting a collaborative approach.
‘’It relies on the active participation of university students who voluntarily contribute their past papers to benefit the entire student community. This collective effort ensures a wide range of past papers from various courses offered at MUST, providing comprehensive coverage for students’ exam preparation needs,’’ Nabende shared.
The MUST students fraternity happily welcomed the application citing that it has come to aid them in approving and maintaining academic performance.
“Fantastic App! With ease to navigate User Interfaces and a variety of past papers to access for all Faculty courses, it enhances your performance. I Highly recommend it to all my fellow students.” Maureen, a student of Software Engineering stated.
The developers expressed their gratitude to the dedicated faculty members, however, they encouraged lecturers to support and recommend the MUST PastPapers app to their students, providing them with a supplementary tool for exam preparation.
‘’To the faculty deans and university top management, we emphasize the app’s alignment with the vision of accessible and quality education. We urge the support and promotion of the app within the university community to maximize its benefits for students,’’ Mugisha appealed.
‘’Looking beyond the examination period, the sustainability plan for the MUST PastPapers app envisions a comprehensive educational platform. The app will expand its features and services to cater to students’ ongoing learning needs. In addition to accessing past papers, users will have access to study notes, interactive flashcards, engaging quizzes, and a news feed section providing updates on various topics,’’ he added.
Nabende also revealed that they are actively developing an AI-powered Smart ChatBot with innovative features to facilitate seamless file uploads and offer personalized assistance.
While the developers have made remarkable progress, they welcome any support that can contribute to the app’s growth and enhancement. Collaborating with educational institutions and organizations to accumulate past papers from a broader range of courses would be advantageous.
Technological infrastructure and research and development funding will also greatly support the integration of advanced features.
Furthermore, the developers plan to expand the app to cater to other institutions in Uganda and potentially beyond. By collaborating with universities, they aim to extend the benefits of the app to a larger student community and foster academic success across multiple institutions.
