This is a passionate plea, on behalf of Ugandan youths, to the producers of the “popular” reality TV show, BBA.
We commend you for your creativity, but frankly speaking, BBA is no longer what it used to be. What we crave for is a BBA where African Youths can discuss critical issues and proffer solutions to Africa’s increasing problems. With all due respect, WE DO NOT NEED this morally decadent reality show where single parents who can’t sustain their relationships get called up to display their ‘fallen breasts’! Is BBA a show where drug addicts, porn stars and ill-mannered people mix up and get rewarded? Is BBA encouraging youths to have sex in public and get paid?
IS HAVING SEX IN PUBLIC THE NEW RULE? Is that Africa’s new way of life?
It’s a reality show, but is having sex in public the only way of proving that you’re “real”? Is DSTV (well GOTV is still under DSTV since most of us own GOTV in our hostels) indirectly issuing a call for legalisation of prostitution? Isn’t this outright pornography in the public eye?
There is none righteous among us, we all have our faults, we are all sinners, but must we wash our dirty linen in public?
It’s a free world, you can live your life the way you want, but must you drag others into the mud with you? We’ve already lost our values, but must DSTV add to our sorrows with this totally disgusting program?
BBA has become an entirely valueless program. Initially the show was great but recently sexual immorality has become the order of the day. Our own dumb Ella is busy kissing and snogging with a one Idris, and so many campus girls out here look up to her. Where are we headed?
In the sixth edition, tagged BBA Amplified, Bhoke Egina, one of the housemates, was involved in a sex romp with our own Ernest Wasake, just before their eviction from the House.
It takes less than 21 days to imbibe a habit. BBA runs 90 days, subtly making poor African youths addicted to lecherous behaviour, destroying the values we hold dear as Ugandans.
Is “sex in public” the new solution to all our troubles? Is that not the least of our problems? I’m sure Multichoice can do better than that!
Please do something drastic about this libidinous behaviour. Let the world hear our plea. Modify the damn show or preferably scrap it and let’s preserve the little virtues we have left.
Yours Truly,
Angella Tusiime
