We all know Uganda as a country for posers…ok, maybe not all Ugandans are but campus-bees are big time broke-ass posers. They will whistle and hoot constantly when they chance at a nice meal in a reputable place. They will post pictures on social media about how they ate Chinese food in a French restaurant, about how the waiters at cayenne are ugly and all that brouhaha but to be honest, most of them eat at such places only at parties they gate crush.
I might want to go on and on about those girls’ bu-odd ways but that is a story for another day, for now, let’s focus on the new restaurant in Bugolobi. Have you heard of KFC? NO? c’mon, everyone is throwing a tantrum about their prices, the campus-bees obviously are on the other side of the sea, the side that pretends they won’t feel the price pinch a bit and are posting about how they will change their dating venues to K.F.C.
We all had fancied eating real tasty chicken with the right amount of seasoning from the prestigious Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) restaurant and when rumors hit our social media pages that it would open a branch in Uganda, everyone went crazy and the i-can’t-wait posts came in handy.
Campus-bees from the broke and highbrow families thought they had surely got a new legit hangout for dates. But shockingly, the long awaited KFC officially opened yesterday at Village Mall Bugolobi with a function that attracted a horde of corporates and the campus wanna-be’s only for everyone to live lamenting.
The guests were treated to freebees which included chicken and several other chicken oriented snacks and burgers but Just when they had started gorging the free bites, the endorsed working menu was flagged in their faces and that’s how the sweet words they were uttering became sour. They said it is impossible to eat in such a place however good their food is.
“Let me eat their food for the last time because why else would I pay these alarming prices for just a plate of food, their meal is the equivalent to 3 children’s school fees at Nakivubo Blue Primary School, does it mean my children won’t study because K.F.C happened to Kampala”, a frustrated reveler was heard saying.
The students at MUBS which is just atop of the new brasserie also threw laments on how they were going to miss such a Porsche place with good food because of its crazy prices.
“I will change all my date to K.F.C, their prices are the only way to test if a man loves you”, a girl at MUBS was heard saying.
“waaah, if a girl chooses K.F.C for a date, they don’t love you so please flea, run for your lives” a boy at Mubs was heard saying in retort to the girls locution.
Meanwhile, people on social media are crazy about K.F.C, some argue it’s the best in Uganda now and the journalists who got a chance at the freebie on the opening ceremony are posting pictures of K.F.C chicken. The braggart ones who have mastered the art of posing are saving the pictures for future posting Nayee CAMPUS-BEES
So apparently a bucket of chicken costs shs99, 000. In the US the same bucket costs £9.9 (that’s approximately shs54, 000). And at Wandegeya, or Kabalagala TV Chicken (KTC), whole chicken costs shs12, 000. For the posers, I think they have no option but to invest their tuition fees in taking a chic for a meal at KFC (Boy has to impress!).
Let’s look at 5 things a campuser can use shs99, 000 for;
· Kikomando for a whole a month
· 1K betting receipts for 99 weekends
· 99K can pay for 2 retakes
· That money can buy handouts for the whole semester
· 99K can buy me a crate of beer and 2 bottles of Amarula in Mukono
These ninjas at the counter will forever remain smiling without customers if KFC doesn’t revise its prices!
