Everyone has an understanding of who a slay queen is. The bee stumbled on Charlotte Kamusiime a MUK finalist who slays every day and everywhere. She was miss Munyonyo 2015/2016 and she is currently the reigning Jewel of the Nile. She tells us who she thinks a slay queen should be.
In your own words what character traits deem any girl a slay queen?
A slay queen is one that does both Queening and slaying. For anyone to be called a slay queen, they should be full package, from character, wardrobe, make up, brains etc it just has to be full package. You slay with a purpose. But recently the word “slay queen” became a diss. They use it to mean girls that only slay on social media, wear heavy make up and take pics. They kind of broke the word. They ruined it.
On a daily basis, how many guys hala at you? Not check you out but actually hala and how do you deal with it?
Not so many guys hala of course, just a few. But there are guys that hala with a lot of sense to say and others do it just for formality, to waste your time. But to answer you, I don’t take note of how many they really are, that would be crazy. I sieve who am going to give my time to, who am going to actually listen to, that way am able to cut off some people and sometimes you end up with a lot of blocking to do(laughs) That’s how I deal with it.
What goes into the stacks of being a slay queen? i.e what things are being done to keep you fresh?
Well, I personally love gyming. It makes me feel fresh and helps me keep in shape. I love going to the spa, sauna, facials and all the good treats. They make me feel new and good every other day. I also really appreciate my sleep. I put a lot of emphasis on beauty sleep. It keeps your spirits up and of course a positive attitude. I take a lot of water because I actually eat a lot for a person my size (bursts out into laughter)
Every slay queen spends big on her style. What do you spend the most on?
(giggles). It depends on what the season is really. I will buy all the exquisite outfits if I have a lot of events and parties to show up on, I have to keep looking fresh and can’t keep wearing the same outfit. Anything that contributes to my looking good, I will spend on it but it really depends on what season. Sometimes I spend a lot on gym, other times on bags and nails plus clothes so really it depends.
Were you always a slay queen or did this just catch on later on?
I did not think of myself in that way. How could I know any way?! (laughs) I just think I have always been the same so nothing really caught up. Only that I keep moving with trend, I love trying out new things. Each new thing that hits the scenes I will want to try it so I guess I have been like that all my life.
If yes, can you describe your personality and life style before you became a bombshell.
Well since I think and feel that I have always been the same, my personality has also been the same. I have always been out going, bubbly, free spirited and always had an eye for class.
How do you spend your normal day like?
Wake up, check my snapchat and whatsapp, eat, attend class, meet up my girls and we hang and catch up. I love my life so simple. It should never be that serious.
What is your typical fun day like?
I love girl plans. So waking up and having a really nice meal for breakfast starts my typical fun day. I love eating. (laughs) I meet up my girls and we talk about all the dumb things, going to club and dance ourselves stupid. I love an alcohol induced night with my girls, not drunk!! Just lit.
Any tips for any girls trying to look as fresh as you?
First off, no one can love you as much as you love yourself. If you do not think you are fresh, other people will not think you are fresh. Learn from others, It’s no competition but always ask and learn from others. Take negative criticism positively it helps build your life and character. Have fun, let loose, stop being too serious just take a chill. If anything negative is happening just look at it as an open door because you will not have it all your way. Look at the brighter side of life. Also remember to be yourself don’t try too hard, tebikola! Take as much water as you can, it’s probably something you have been hearing all your life but you really need that water it keeps you fresh.
