Times are hard, times have hit the rock bottom and everyone in and out of campus is seemingly opening up a new ushering company with the many unemployed youths straight out of campus ready to join.

Nearly every month, a new ushering business springs up from the alleys of universities especially MUBS, MAK and UCU. Because of the hustle for a penny, majority campus babes are fast-recruited to this fast-growing venture that seems to be the new trend.

However, shocking details reveal that as ushering gigs become scarce for the many ushering companies that are already in existence, desperate measures are being taken to keep relevant in the system. Ushering services have since changed to escorting services as means of making it spicy and earning more money from the venture.

Speaking to the owner of Angels Wings Ushers, Mrs Joeline Namulindwa, she had this to say; “Yes, there are some clients that do ask for those particular packages that have the ladies offering more than just ushering. However it depends on which party the ladies shall be ushering at. I have received calls from clients intending to organize Bachelor parties and want ladies exclusively ready to offer ‘extra services’. For bachelor parties, big functions that attract only men, such services are being offered.”

During events that attract ushers, loaded fellas are seen packing a few ladies in their cars when the events have come to end and they (ushers) go willingly. “From an ushering gig I earn a mere 30,000 shs in one night which comes in misery and coldness. If I’m lucky and a loaded fella picks interest in me, I have no option but to give in because then I can make up to 100k on a lucky night,” sheila (not real names) an usher with one of the big ushering companies intimated.

Corporate companies too hire ushers for their promotions but at the end of the day pay them peanuts after long hours of working which forces the youthful victims to seek for other options and escorting services come to mind fast. The many unemployed fresh graduates are readily available to be recruited and are greatly manipulated because they have no say and option.

While ushering at big events and concerts, campuser ushers are worried to be snapped by paparazzi in fear of being exposed. They attend to ushering gigs late in the night with their parents being unaware. “Please don’t take pictures of us an publish them in newspapers. Some of us, our parents don’t know we are earning an extra survival income, an usher pleaded at recent concert.

Majority girls are lured into ushering by friends and some are attracted for the quick money, free costumes and to keep up with the hustle of the campus life. Many go expecting merry from the gigs but are given a shock of their lives that it’s not easy.
