International University Of East Africa officially turned five years on Friday and with a fine crowing, the Kansanga based university shall forever live to celebrate.
While turning five, the university held their annual Mr and Miss IUEA beauty pageant that seeks to choose the official face of the university. Starting way too late, the IUEA state of the art auditorium was nearly filled up with students flocking in big numbers to show some love to their students.
The event was a blend of various showcases ranging from cultural, contemporary and official wear. Like many beauty pageants, the contestants at the pageant were tasked to showcase their creativity in front of the judge’s eyes and the most impressive would later on be crowned the best of all.
The show went on for quite a long time and the students were vividly getting tired overtime. By 2am, the MC of the night was yet to call for the cutting of the cake to mark the 5th anniversary celebrations and was announcing more showcases to a vivid disappointed response from the students in attendance. The moment to mark the 5th anniversary finally came calling for a great moment of reflection from the university’s Dean of Students who shared the journey and a remarkable story of IUEA.
“It has been a worthwhile journey. One to reckon with and we shall forever be glad to be at IUEA,” she noted.
When the crowing time was finally announced, anxious faces on both the contestants and the students in attendance could be seen and it was solely upon the judges to mend or break hearts that night.
When the night was about to be no more, the judges finally announced the winners were selected as the Mr’s and Misses of IUEA. Uganda’s own Barlow Alice a student of Bachelors of Business Administration and Zambia’s Milton Mwila a student of Engineering were crowned Miss and Mr IUEA respectively.
