Whoever invented the porridge night must have had an absolutely noble idea in mind, it’s rooted in the Halls of residence.
Porridge and bread is served as music Plays and jokes make rounds in the hall.
As a rule, the males are expected to to knock at doors of the ladies’ rooms and invite them, ask for cups.
Basically, porridge nights are interesting and it allows class stress to wear off, and the campus students mix and mingle.
All this has changed basing on the Porridge night at Lumbox,… It was 11 and the porridge wasn’t ready, instead the jokes were flowing….
Not really funny but extremely vulgar jokes… Anyone knows that vulgarity in local languages sounds so heavy, now imagine, song after song littered with vulgarity… “agyirese Agyirese em***. Blah blah…
Their anthem is gross , a vulgarized version of the buganda anthem. Now that’s a total turn off for some students. Maggie a year two medic at Mary Stuart had this to say ; “The verbal immorality is funny at first but slowly you realize the boys are overly doing it then one realizes it’s not so cool after all. “
