Modelling to many girls is just a pass time and to many others, it’s a way to get famous and mint money while at it, not for the 20 year old Barbara Namuddu.
Namuddu is soon joining the Civil Aviation Authority for a course in cabin crew (flight attendant). A freelance model attached to Royal Essence Management Uganda, her modelling is not only a pass time but a passion and somewhat a talent and probably that’s why she is so good at it.
“My modelling career started in 2013 while in school with the Miss teen competition under Miss brainy, but it came to reality in 2015, it was my year!” she comments. Namuddu has modeled for KRaphael couture, Nfka clothing line, Abraynz style and Fashion awards 2015, Sylvia Owori for the 3 Days in Europe Fashion show, Sands and colours, and Kampala Fashion Week among others.
On a daily basis, the words “you are a true African model…” that were once said to her by Flosha Mukashaka of Royal Essence keep her passion blooming and craving for more. “When Miss Uganda competition 2015 came in the picture, I did everything to bring out the best in me and rise my confidence because modelling is for the confident,” Namuddu added.
At Miss Uganda during the regional auditions, she made it to top 3 as 2nd Runners up and at National level, she made it to the top 21. She was also named one of the top 10 beautiful and smart girls in Uganda by the Miss Uganda Foundation. “I give thanks to God, my family (brother and aunt) and to my manager and friend Aaron Joseph Tamale.”
When this website asked her where she saw herself in 5 Years, this is what she had to say; “I want to be an international model on international runways from New York, Paris, Stockholm, Germany to all over the world and to use my modelling career and runway experience as a platform to uplift that spirit in young girls out there to make them feel beautiful about themselves and set landmarks in their lives in other wards I want to be a Girl Advocate and I hope the world let’s me share my success.”
Shine on Barbara Namuddu, “don’t let your weaknesses define you, they may be with you all your way, but they’re not who you are,” Namuddu concluded.
