Matumaini is a word that means ‘Hope.’ Matumaini Foundation was founded by four students to harness and mobilize the youth energetic resource and good will to help the less privileged and vulnerable people in society.
The Foundation was founded by Othieno Bonny Peter a student of Economics at Makerere University Business School [MUBS], Mugisha Morris Munezero a student of Computer Science at Uganda Christian University [UCU], Jesse Sempijja a student of Computer Science at UCU, and Kwiringira Paul a student of Bachelor of Laws at UCU- all second year students with a heart of gold and love for others.
‘Love your neighbor as you do yourself Mark 12:31. These four students define this scripture with so much relevance and in an exemplary stance that is unrivaled with their vision ‘To create a better world in which all people have high esteem to fulfill their God Given Purposes irrespective of their sorrowful backgrounds and conditions.’
When asked about his thoughts on Cancer, “Cancer doesn’t begin and end the way we think it does. Cancer is a battle, Cancer is a war, soldier on,” Othieno commented.
They are also organizing an event at Silver Springs Bugolobi dubbed ‘Poetry for Cancer’ where they shall be joined by Uganda Cancer Institute outreach team led by Dr. Nobel Mugisha from Fred Hutchison research centre Mulago that will also do Cancer talks, screening, and testing.
We need more souls like these in Uganda, in Africa; then, we can be assured of a bright future. Kudos to these young souls!
