Lately having a blesser while at campus is an in thing, something that girls of these days will do and loudly shout it out to the world without any care and why is that I often wonder? Well it is because some if not most girls want to live a luxurious life while showing off to their friends.
The pressures of this obsession often comes when you hang out with people who are ‘living it up’, people who have the money to sustain themselves with the help of their wealthy backgrounds. Why do you gotta follow them up? Of course we know not everyone comes from a well to do family, has a wealthy boyfriend or has a well paying job while studying but some can’t take that as a reality.
Some of you want to be and have a life like Sera Ponde, Anita Fabiola, Bettinah Tiana among other celebs and just with that you think the world will bow to your feet, yet that’s usually not the case. So you devise a plan and go to upscale places with borrowed clothes and money just to land your self that one sponsor for life.
Usually when the target has been acquired, you want them to spend on your entire heritage including your late ancestors. You make them give you the things you’ve never had but could only dream of. You often forget that this sponsor could have a family or you are spending someone’s school fees, as long as you’re getting what you want.
Let’s not forget these blessers have types. The kind of babe who will do anything their spouses can’t or even the type who can help spend his money and most of them are campus girls.
The expectation of standing out among your peers is on the rise, it affects not only you in the long run but also the partners of your blessers. The need to have a flat screen TV in the room, plenty of shoes, more money in your bank account and a flashy Instagram page doesn’t change the fact that you come from a humble background that is not so well off. Never forget your roots.
