Makerere University students have given police a 48 hour ultimatum to come up with a report on the campaign violence that transpired in Ntugamo district.
The students say they have mobilized over 200,000 youth to demonstrate in case the police chief Gen. Edward Kale Kayihura does not act accordingly.
The student youth leader, Mathias Ssemanda says such violence may lead Uganda into bloodshed just like Kenya in 2007 and the current situation in Burundi.
Earlier this week, the police chief partly blamed the Ntungamo violence on provocation by supporters of independent presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi.
Over the weekend police was engaged in running battles with Mbabazi’s supporters after they clashed with NRM supporters who showed up at a Go Forward rally wearing yellow T.Shirts.
Several people were injured in the scuffle that ensued and matter is now under investigation.
