After the suspension of Mr James Wokadala the head of the department of Planning and Applied Statistics in the school of statistics and planning, the university has ordered police to hunt for Mr David Opiro, the Lecturer withholding students’ marks and scripts.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academics Prof Ernest Okello Ogwang wrote to the university police and In particular afande Jackson Mucunguzi the head of Security at the university, directing him to hunt for Mr Opiro. On this arrest order is Dr Lubaale Yovani also wanted over the same issue.
A new development has emerged that connects Dr Wokadala to hiring Mr Opiro to keep lecturing students even when Mr Opiro’s contract with the university had expired in 2015. The terms of work and payments that these two agreed on are still a mystery!
In the suspension letter authored by the VC Prof John Ddumba Sentamu, Dr. Wokadala was given up to 12:00pm today to retrieve the students’ scripts and marks if this suspension is to be lifted.
Failure to do this, the over 200 affected students will be given a special exam tommorrow February 3 for the course unit Fundamentals of Marketing. This is in a bid to ensure that these students graduate on time.
The former students who offered this Course Unit should thus activate standby mode.
