Campus Bee has this morning exclusively learnt about the testing of 20 vice chancellors from different universities for COVID-19 ahead of today’s scheduled meeting with Janet Museveni, the Minister of Education and Sports.
The Minister, who doubles as the first lady noted, in attachment to the emails sent to the Vice Chancellors, that one of the requirements needed to attend the meeting is a COVID-19 negative results test.
The Vice Chancellors had requested for this meeting sometime back as they wanted to discuss several issues affecting the universities during this time and they were notified on Monday that the meeting would eventually take place.
These 20 Vice Chancellors from both private and public universities underwent the tests that were conducted at Kampala International University (KIU) on Tuesday afternoon spearheaded by the UCU Vice Chancellor, Rev Dr John Ssenyonyi.
The University Vice Chancellor’s Forum that is headed by the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Uganda Christian University, Rev Dr John Ssenyonyi, is expected to discuss issues rotating around the implementation of the emergency Open, Distance e-Learning- (ODeL) system for Higher Education institutions during the ongoing lockdown.
