In a late night meeting dubbed the #IUIUcongress the the Rector Dr. Ahmad Sengendo presented to settle students grievances.
During he’s speech Dr. Ssengendo tackled the question of “why is the females campus hosting the graduation?”
The Bee quotes from his speech,”In 2008, the ceremony was hosted at the females campus and it attracted a lot of dignitaries and of this included the General Secretary of the OIC and the Sultan of Sokoto, why is it raising eyebrows now? Anyway similar to that year a lot of dignitaries confirmed attendance and won’t be able to make it here (Mbale) and that’s why we settled for the females campus, it’s strategically located and won’t involve any extra costs to transport dignitaries. If you remember last year we actually had to fly in the chancellor”
He also added that 2156 students were cleared for graduation and he hoped that about another 500 students will be cleared in the coming few weeks, and given the increasing number of graduands, soon individual campuses will have to host their own graduation ceremonies and their will be nothing like combined graduations in a few years to come.
