Evans Ariho, a 2nd year student at Bishop Stuart University currently pursuing a Diploma in Animal Health has been nabbed by police for faking own kidnap and demanding a ransom of 2 Million UGX from his parents.
According to Rwizi regional police spokesperson Samson Kasasira, a case about the 29 year old disappearance was reported on May 16th, who is currently being detained in Mbarara. The police worked tirelessly until when they arrested Ariho before withdrawing the money from his phone.
After being grilled, Ariho confessed to reporters at Mbarara Police station that he faked his own kidnap to get money for his charcoal business as well as completing his remaining tuition, unfortunately we was nabbed before withdrawing a single penny “I knew that my parents wouldn’t help me with my business,” Ariho confessed.
Kasasira adds that a total of six own kidnap cases have been registered in Rwizi out of the total seven kidnap cases reported. Apparently all the culprits have been arrested.
