As 1500 students from Kampala International Univeristy (KIU) yesterday graduated with certificates, diplomas, degrees and doctorates in various fields, 500 others missed out because of failure to clear fees on time.
The chairman board of trustees to the university, Prof Al Hajji Hassan Bassajabalaba said it was unfortunate that a big number of students like this had to wait for the next graduation ceremony.
“The number could have doubled but some of your colleagues were not able to make it because of fees, so you should be proud and thankful for that,” he said.
He also refuted allegations that KIU produces half baked graduands, saying that those who make such claims should go and see for themselves the quality of education the university gives to students.
The chief guest Hon. Betty Kamya who is the Minister for Kampala applauded the university for its efforts in educating the young generation and contributing to the health sector.
“We applaud the work done by KIU in producing health workers which include nurses, doctors Lab technicians among others. This has greatly helped uplift the country’s health sector,” Kamya noted.
She however advised the garduands to avoid reckless and irresponsible behavior that may lead to the loss of the success they have achieved.
Campus Bee congratulates the graduands of KIU and wishes them best of luck in their endeavors.
