As Ugandans soar and weep over the loss of over 30 revelers that perished in a boat cruise accident on Lake Victoria, Ashaba Bill Clinton, a Surveyor who had just qualified from the Uganda Institute of Surveying and Land Management breathed his last on Saturday evening as one of the occupants of the Templar boat that capsized.
Ashaba Bill Clinton graduated in June this year with a Diploma in Surveying at the Institute of Surveying and Land Management that is located in Entebbe. Immediately after his graduation, he was hired by Idrop Cap Limited as one of the top team leaders of the Surveying division.
Being a lover of fun, Ashaba decided to take off a Saturday evening and drop by Lake Victoria for a boat cruise with friends, taking selfies and having fun. Little did he know that the hilarious moments on the boat would be his last on earth.
While at the boat cruise, Ashaba even tweeted, ‘Enjoy every moment like it is your last’ and indeed, it was the last.
Ashaba has been described by his friends as a man who was a smart student and worker, a fast tracker in his career and a natural born leader. He attained his Secondary education from Kings College Buddo and headed to the Uganda Institute of Surveying and Land Management for a Diploma in Surveying.
During his time at the institute, her served as Vice President on the Guild Council and inspired his course mates to develop a spirit of team work.
In an emotional message, the former President of the Institute of Surveyors, Oruni Walter who served with Ashaba during his tenure described Ashaba as a very inspirational colleague.
“Bill and I were more than just brothers. He showed me that a man cannot live by himself. He vehemently believed in the principle of team work and castigated selfishness. He was very selfless even in his service of the people and very ambitious in his career,” Oruni narrated
May the soul of Ashaba Bill Clinton Rest in Peace.
