The Kyambogo University freshers for the academic year 2017/2018 were yesterday officially inducted into the university at the event that took place at the westend square which kicked off at 2pm.
The event was graced by the university’s top administrators including the Vice Chancellor, Proff Elly Katunguka, deans from various faculties, plus the students guild leaders. Alot of activities took place including skits from the drama club of Kyu, perfomances from the university choir and various speeches. In the Vice Chancellor’s speech while addressing freshmen, he hinted on the now increasing number of sexually transmitted diseases among the youth and he advised freshmen not to have sex but rather abstain. “Incase you are lured into any conjugal activity, you should strictly use protection,” he said reffering to the HIV skit that had just been performed before his speech.
“Each and everyday that goes by more people are getting sexually transmitted diseases, therefore, I advise you to keep safe by abstaining but if you feel it’s too much and you can’t abstain please use protection just like these people have told you in their presentation,” he emphasized.
The freshers induction was later concluded with various speeches from guild leaders, cake cutting and serving of drinks. The day was later concluded with a freshers bash that happened at the East end pitch.
