The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a global professional accounting body offering the Chartered Certified Accountant qualification has qualified Makerere University’s Bachelor of Commerce – Accounting option as an accredited programme.
The exemption accreditation was communicated by Ann Lamb, the Director of Qualifications at ACCA.
“The accreditation is for 5- years starting 2023 to 2027. This means that ACCA highly regards the quality of the curriculum, training and examination of BCOM and students of Bachelor of Commerce- Accounting option will attempt only 5 papers to attain a full ACCA qualification,” MUBS explained on its official Twitter page.
The accreditation will ease the task for students who wish to qualify as certified accountants under the prestigious ACCA.
ACCA has 233,000 members and 536,000 future members worldwide and works through a network of over 110 offices and centres in 51 countries – with 346 Approved Learning Partners (ALP) and more than 7,600 Approved Employers worldwide, who provide employee development.
To be an ACCA member, one should register as a student member to undertake the professional qualification. Upon successful completion of the examinations, student members transfer to Affiliate status.
