In a dazzling display of cultural pride and creativity, the UCU Acholi Students Association emerged victorious at the highly anticipated Uganda Christian University (UCU) Cultural Gala, which took place on November 4, 2023. The event, organized as part of the annual #UCUculturalexhibition, showcased the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Uganda’s different regions, with the Acholi students stealing the show.
The UCU Acholi Students Association left a lasting impression on both judges and attendees, thanks to their remarkable presentation of Acholi culture. From traditional food to attire, dance, and crafts, they brought the spirit of the Acholi people to life.
The cultural food section featured a delectable array of traditional Acholi dishes, including the mouthwatering ‘malakwang’ and ‘binga.’ The aroma of these delicacies filled the air and enticed attendees to savour the unique flavors of the Acholi cuisine.
The students’ choice of attire was another highlight, as they showcased the vibrant and colorful traditional clothing of the Acholi people. The colorful beads, beautifully woven patterns, and elegant designs caught the eye of many and added to the visual spectacle of the gala.
The Acholi students’ traditional dance performance was met with thunderous applause. Their energetic and graceful movements conveyed the spirit and rhythm of Acholi culture, leaving the audience mesmerized by the vibrant display.
