There is confirmation that Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) is not about to let that happen. AMwA as an International Pan- African, Non-Governmental Development Organization aiming at empowering women through their 3 Point strategy; Leadership building, Knowledge Generation and Dissemination and finally Coalition & Moment Building.
This N.G.O through the Tuwezeshe Akina Dada Project has launched a campaign against the silence around sexual violence and normalization of the rape culture in institutions of Higher learning. AMwA invites all who would wish to participate in the documentation of stories and experiences of sexual violence in Institutions of Higher Learning to submit works of fiction or non- fiction in the form of short stories, poems and comic strips on the theme “Combating Sexual Violence at Institutions of Higher Learning.”
This initiative is part of AMwA’s 16 days of Activism against gender based violence through raising awareness about violence against women and girls.
All submissions are to be sent to amwa@akinamamawaafrika.org not later than 9th November, 2018 including one’s name, age, name of their institution, contact information and the content should be between 600 & 1000 words.
The shortlisted articles are to be published on the AMwA’s website & journal for distribution during and after the campaign period. Further, the Shortlisted candidates will receive a modest honorarium for their submissions.
