Angered Medical Students Demonstrate Against Move By Gov’t to Scrap Off Allowances

At around 1 pm today, medical students from universities allover the country  demonstrated with discontent walking from Mulago hospital to the Ministry of Health.

The students are angered about a new policy of the internship programme that succumbs them to work without any facilitation, what they termed as slavery!

Dr. Specioza Kazibwe, the former vice president and the in charge of planning and finances had earlier on said its a reform here to stay.

The match however wasn’t all in vain as the leadership committee went in for a closed door meeting with the medical officials at the ministry who said the issue will be resolved by Monday, 29th August 2016.

The medical students have also demanded for a salary raise to UGX 1.2 million shillings. It should however be noted that early last year, the ministry reduced their salary from UGX 850,000 to UGX 600,000.
