Another custodian of Olympia hostel has been fired in a space of just one semester. The custodian, commonly known as Emma has been fired for opening students’ rooms and making away with their property while students are tucked away during this lockdown. The first Custodian, a one Reuben was earlier fired by the hostel Management after Campus Bee reported that Reuben used to sexually harass female students.
Worthy to note is that Olympia Hostel uses cards for students to access their rooms. However, the custodians have unlimited access to students’ rooms with a Master card. It is said that this Master card is what Emma has been using to access students’ rooms to steal and sell their property.
A source at Olympia Hostel told Campus Bee Thursday morning that the 40 days of the thieving custodian came to an end this week when a student passed by to check on his room only to find his door wide open. “The student had come to check if his room is still intact, only to confirm his fears. Finding his property like TV, carpet, sub woofers and several pairs of shoes missing,” a source who spoke to Campus Bee on condition of anonymity revealed.
It is said that Emma would connive with goons in Kikoni to deal and sell the students’ property to earn some money during these tough times of lockdown.
The students who were sent home on March 20 after President Museveni announced closure of universities are now living in fear- wondering if they’ll go back to an empty room as most them only packed their clothes. “We were not sure when the lockdown would end. We thought it would take only two weeks that is why we moved with only our clothes. Now I am not sure if I will find my fridge, TV, sub woofers and microwave in tact. I am restless,” one of the residents of the posh Olympia hostel told this reporter.
