A section of applicants that applied to join Makerere University in the next academic year are quite anxious about their admission fate.
Some applicants have over the past weeks unsuccessfully badgered the university to release the private admission list for the academic year 2023/24.
The office of the academic registrar at Makerere University said last month, in response to a query about the release of the private admission list, that the process was on going and they would communicate once it has been concluded.
Makerere University released the academic calendar for the year 2023/24 on July 6th, reawakening the demand for the private admission lists.
Eng. Charles on twitter thanked the university for releasing the calender, adding that he doesn’t know if he has been admitted or not since the private admission list has not been released.
Reacting to the academic calendar that was shared in their WhatsApp group Makerere admission year 2023, Joram said he thought the list was out but to his dismay it was a calendar which he has at home too (sarcastic).
In the latest development, the office of the academic registrar has indicated that the admission committee will sit next week and the the admission list will be released thereafter, implying that the applicants have to wait further for at least an extra week.
“The Admissions Committee is scheduled to sit next week on 11th July 2023; thereafter, the admissions list for successful candidates under Private Admissions scheme will be released,” the office of the academic registrar tweeted.
Fortunate, one of the applicants waiting for the list told the Bee that her parents think she ate the admission money because the list has delayed. She says she is a bit scared though optimistic that she will be admitted with a backup plan of applying elsewhere incase she is not on the list.
Makerere University has in the past years set the pace for other public universities, however, the story has changed this academic year.
Mbarara University released their private admissions list last week becoming the first public university to release private admission lists this year with Kabale University following suit.
