Makerere University has warned applicants of the 2023/24 Academic year to watch out for fraudsters.
With the release of admission lists last week, several applicants had a few grievances regarding the outcome and decided to appeal with the academic registrar’s office.
Among these, applicants who missed out on desired courses yet have the required weights were advised to lodge their complaints and get the deserved assistance.
However, some conmen are trying to take advantage of the applicants by asking for money to facilitate the appealing procedure.
The office of the Academic Registrar received this information of unscrupulous individuals who are soliciting money from applicants under the guise of helping them lodge in their appeals and responded stating;
“We wish to reiterate that the application appeals process is free of charge and therefore, no applicant, should pay any one to assist them submit their appeal.”
The office encouraged applicants to be alert of such individuals and to report to security any person or individual, who asks for money during this exercise.
Applicants were as well informed that the official venue for submitting appeals is Senate Building, Level 3, Room 3.2.
