Following his directive to close Makerere University for a yet to be identified period of time, President Museveni has gone a head to warn the lecturers saying what they are doing is an act of indiscipline that won’t be tolerated.
During a press conference that Museveni held yesterday in Luweero District, he said that government is not refusing to pay the lecturers’ arrears but they will have to be a little more patient as the government has a lot of issues at hand.
“When you have got people who’ve got an attitude of ‘if you don’t do this today, I am going to okweddima (strike)· That is not a good way, that is not a good way.”he said.
He further warned that this attitude of strikes is not good at all.
“I want to tell you that we aren’t going to tolerate this type of indiscipline anymore. Finished. This is kisanja hakuna muchezo [term of no games],” Museveni fumed.
He noted that they want to open the university very soon such that the student dont miss their studies, but didnt tell when exactly it would be reopened.
