Diz Girls’ Hostel in Uganda Christian University was a target for robbery on Friday when about four armed guards jumped over the perimeter face and entered the hostel to loot. Luckily, however there was no loss of life.
But in a dramatic turn of events, the local askari at the hostel who is armed with a bow and arrows escaped and took off, never to be seen again when he saw that his challengers were gun welding goons.
“He took off. I was looking at him from my hostel window. He first attempted to shoot an arrow but when he probably realized that the thieves would reiterate with bullets, he immediately took off. I didn’t know he could even run that fast.” One of the residents who saw what happened told Campus Bee.
Luckily for everyone, the thieves’ attempts to forcefully enter the hostel rooms was futile and they coiled their tails between their legs and took off too after spending so much time at the Hostel and attracting the attention of the Police.
No one knows their whereabouts at the moment, nor those of the askari who was on duty. Diz Hostel is located near Mandela Hostel in the heart of UCU.
