Bashira Nantongo , a second year Bachelor of Education at Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU)- Female campus has been elected as 2020/2021 Guild President.
Nantongo has defeated Swahibah Nansubuga, a Bachelor of Public Administration student with 365 to 214 during elections held on Friday .
The elections were first held on 28th February,2020 but nullified over fraud allegations.
The students were given a second chance to elect who shall lead them next academic year and they tested their trust in Bashira Nantongo.
One student at IUIU-Females campus told Campus Bee that Friday elections were free and fair.
“First elections has several irregularities that could not determine a true winner but this time around , the elections were free and fair,” she says.
On 27th February,2020 the two guild presidential candidates had a televised debate that was beamed on Urban to inform students what they had in their boxes for students in 2020/2021 academic year.
IUIU Main campus elected Yusuf Welunga and Fatumah Nakibuule as the Guild President and Lady Vice respectively last week while IUIU Kampala campus postponed the elections to 14th March,2020 because most students didn’t register making them ineligible to vote because the voting application called E-Voting can not recognize them
