Competing against 19 diverse cultures from Uganda and other African nations, Basoga Nseete’s breathtaking performance not only wowed the judges but also resonated deeply with a captivated audience. With every note and dance step, the group showcased a rich tapestry of Basoga traditions, firmly cementing their victory in a contest that featured fierce competition from the Baganda Nkobazambogo and the Tooro Students’ Association.

The KIU Cultural Gala, organized by the Office of the Dean, Students Affairs, is renowned for its celebration of diversity and inclusion. This year, the gala was a vibrant blend of set pieces, folk songs, and folk dances—each segment delivering a visual and auditory feast. However, it was Basoga Nseete’s performance that captured hearts and minds, earning them top honors in the set piece category and contributing significantly to their overall win.
During the event, luminaries such as Dr. Jacob Ashibi, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs, and Guild President Yvonne Keinembabazi personally presented trophies to the winners. Their remarks echoed the sentiment of a community united by culture and creativity. “Tonight, Basoga Nseete not only showcased their rich heritage but also set a benchmark for all KIU cultural initiatives,” they declared.
