Ministry of Education and Sports will not be holding the scheduled press conference on the issuance of guidelines and dates for re-opening schools as communicated earlier.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry and signed by its Permanent Secretary Patrick Muinda , there are some issues to be discussed before announcing the guidelines and re-opening dates of schools in the country.
“On the 22nd May, 2020 , the Ministry communicated that it would be holding a press conference to issue the guidelines and dates for the opening of schools this week,”
“We wish to inform you that the Press Conference will not take place due to emerging issues that require further multi stakeholder discussion and concurrence before the Ministry can move to issue a final statement. A date for this Press Conference will be communicated in due course,” reads part of a statement.
The Ministry assures guardians, parents and all stakeholders that the consultative process on the re-opening of schools are at the final stage.
“Consequently, the Ministry is now at the final stages of the consultative process on the re-opening of schools and other Education Institutions and is embarking on consolidating feedback obtained over the last week,” reads part of a statement.
