Drama in Kabale based Bishop Barham University college has taken a new toll after a Bishop Barham University, after one student was yesterday sentenced to two years in prison over sodomy.
In a proceeding and judgment passed yesterday, Kabale Chief Magistrate’s Court sentenced 24-year-old Felestino Tihaboose a student of Bishop Barham University College to two years in prison over sodomy.
Prosecution told court presided over by Magistrate Moses Samuel Kagoda Ntende that Felestino Tihaboose on March 9, 2016 while on a visit to Kabale University sodomized his colleague Milton Tumwesigye.
Tihaboose who had gone to visit Tumwesigye at Kabale University ended up sodomizing him as they both shared a room. However, Tumwesigye reportedly made an alarm which woke up neighbors to his rescue.
“At around midnight Tihaboose emerged from the corner of the room and started practicing sex in Tumwesigye anus,” alleged the state.
This comes a year after authorities at Bishop Barham University College in Kabale district vowed a crackdown on same sex relationships within and outside University hostels.
Tihaboose was sentenced to two years in prison other than a life sentence because he pleaded guilty and didn’t waste court’s time.
“Sodomy carries a life sentence but considering the fact that the accused pleaded guilty, never wasted court’s time and being a student, he would serve two years in jail. Said Kabale Chief Magistrate’s Court Moses Samuel Kagoda Ntende.
