BSU guild president gives university two weeks altimutum to solve students grievances, refused to meet university administrators
Mbarara based Bishop Stuart University (BSU) seems to be lingering in another trouble as the students have ganged up through their guild president accusing the university administration of neglecting their needs.
In a letter to the university administration, the guild president Denmark B. Adios accused the university of neglecting and providing poor services and not adhering to students grievances. He further argued that it’s a total waste of time by the university to call off students demonstrations.
“The grievances should be worked upon as soon as possible and prior to that, in an expiry of two weeks ultimatum or else the university leaders will take action'” he warned in a letter dated 29th October, 2019 to the quality assurance director of the university.
Earlier last week, the students of BSU had demonstrated over poor service delivery at the campus. The students were demanding for adequate facilities in terms of chairs, provisions of security lights at their faculties since insecurity has been on the rise, among other grievances.
The guild president Denmark also refused to meet the university administration in a scheduled meeting that was to happen this week Tuesday noting that it’s a complete waste of time to meet and talk yet the grievances remain unsolved.
“The meeting scheduled for Tuesday 29th October 2019 between student leaders and university leaders is unnecessary since nothing apart from the grievances can be discussed,” He noted in the letter.
In recent past, students from BSU have been pointing fingers at top administration of nepotism, religious discrimination and poor service delivery in terms of services being offered to students. The students also argued that they have no access to free internet at the university a matter that’s making them under perform. However it’s not yet clear which “action” the students’ leaders will take as claimed by the guild president.
