Prof. Mauda Kamatenesi-Mugisha, the vice chancellor of Bishop Stuart University (BSU) in Mbarara, has said that she will not tolerate discussions on the age limit bill at the university.
“This university is built on religion, not on politics; so anybody who will be found discussing politics will be penalized accordingly,” she reportedly said.
Earlier on, some two students from BSU, but on holiday, were found in possession of a coffin with an inscription “Rest in Peace Museveni,” and a portrait of Mr. Museveni.
In the same coffin, were names of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Kahinda Otafiire and several other Members of Parliament.
Prof. Kamatenesi said they did it in their individual capacities because they are currently on holiday.
Apparently, the constitution of Bishop Stuart University doesn’t allow politics, and even when choosing students leaders, political parties are never considered.
“When students are in their holidays, the university has no control over them,” she said.
But she said when they return from the holiday, the two could face disciplinary action.
BSU is an Anglican founded institution of higher learning located in the Kakoba division of Mbarara Minicipality in western Uganda.
Unlike public universities, most private institutions have not particularly embraced the multi-party politics that fully take course after university and at national level.
The said students Abert Nangumya and Rodgers Asiimwe were still in detention by press time.
