Anger and rage hovers over Ndejje University students after photos and news of their own former guild president in unconscious state circulated social media. A section of the University students have vowed to join the age limit demonstration dubbed #Kogikwatako if the state of their much loved former guild does not improve.
Hon. Zaake Francis Butebi, the Mityana Municipality MP, is an alumnus of Ndejje University after graduating last year with a degree in Business studies. Zaake studied from Ndejje Kampala campus and was one of the most loved deputy guild presidents. Zaakke is nursing serious wounds and is currently receiving treatment at Lubaga Hospital Causality word after Special Forces Command (SFC) beat him to pulp while dragging him out of the parliament chambers yesterday afternoon.
A number of students and staff have taken to social media to convey their quick recovery messages and condemn the act and manner in which the MP was brutalized and arrested.Hon. Zaake Francis sustained a cut on his cheek, a knee injury and is bed ridden with some cuts on his body and broken limbs. According to a post made by the MP himself yesterday, he said his eyes were injured by one member of the parliament police force commander only identified as Annabel.
The guild president of the University and Zaake’s immediate successor Sixtus Mwaka expressed disappointment with the security operatives of Uganda.
“Quick recovery to Mr. Zaakke who was one of us. I appreciate that you’re now fighting national wars and those who caused this should be held accountable. May God reward your struggle,” He posted on Zaake’ s facebook page.
Another section of students took to social media to air their grievances and voice their willingness to join the struggle.
“Too bad, my MP, neighbor and friend. You are such a national hero and we won’t hesitate to make noise till you are fine and until the struggle is over. Mityananians lets pray for him,” one Annet Nalubega, a student pursuing bachelors in mass com posted.
