Former Kyadondo East Legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine on Sunday met up with a group of Makerere University National Unity Platform (NUP) members who were not seeing each other eye to eye after the just concluded guild elections.
The singer spent some time with the new Makerere Guild President Ssempijja Ivan, the first runner up Oguttu Aaron, as well as Nalukwago Judith who was initially running but later disqualified over retakes.
The meeting happened few days after Oguttu came out to protest the election results citing the unfair nature of the polls. Despite belonging to the same party with Ssempijja, Oguttu’s camp slightly differed in ideology.
“Yesterday, I was very delighted to spend some time with the Guild President of Makerere University, comrade Ssempijja Ivan; the first runner up in the recent election, comrade Oguttu Aaron, as well as comrade Nalukwago Judith who was initially running but was disqualified unfairly. I was glad to note that despite a heated election, these comrades are now united and coming together for the greater good of the University and the nation.” A post shared by Bobi Wine reads in part.
“ We congratulated them and thanked them for all choosing to run under NUP and identifying with the cause of this generation. Listening to them speak, I could see what invaluable resource we have in the young people of Uganda. The fire within them simply confirms that Uganda’s future is bright. We simply need to harness this potential.” The post reads further.
It should be recalled that Ssempijja joined forces with the disqualified Nalukwago to defeat Oguttu in a campaign dubbed “Operation Melting Magma”.
