A body of murdered Entebbe woman, was on Tuesday morning found decomposing near Nkumba University in Abayitababiri, Entebbe. This brings the number of women killed in Wakiso district to 21 since June.
The residents say that the body was recovered in a bush next to Beula Hostel. Police was immediately alerted and according to preliminary reports, the woman is believed to have been murdered last Wednesday. Police spokesman Asan Kasingye confirmed this 21st murder and identified the deceased as Harriet Nantongo, wife of Musiba Noah a resident of Kabale ‘A’ , Katabi Town council. She was reported missing on 13th September.
The most recent information from the police about the Wakiso murders, according to the Force’s spokesperson, Mr Asan Kasingye, is that 12 of the victims have been classified as cases of sexual assault, four cases of domestic violence, one was killed by two brothers in what the police have classified as a revenge killing, and the rest seemed to be ritual murders.
The two brothers who allegedly killed one of the women, Mr Kasingye said, “confessed to the crime” and were remanded to Kigo prison.
The problem is that even when the police have been busy, issuing numerous statements and making arrests, the killings have continued.
