Exclusive Information reaching Campus Bee indicates Makerere researcher Dr Stella Nyanzi has today afternoon been arrested at Makerere University on her way to take back her office at Makerere Institute of Social Research.
More details indicate that Nyanzi had organized a walk to Makerere University following the tribunal rule that she should be reinstated. The walk was cut short when she met police at the main gate who later got involved in a scuffle that led to her arrest.
According to her close people, it is not clear where Nyanzi is being kept at moment but various reports have emerged showing that she is being detained at Kireka Police Station while others say she is at Wandegeya police station.
There was heavy police deployment at Makerere University main gate following Nyanzi’s planned march to MISR (Makerere Institute Of Social Research) where her office is located. The Police came to know about her plans when she posted about the march on her Facebook page where she vowed to walk from Wandegeya police to Makerere University on foot.
The march had several activists like David Musiri, (Mak student) Hamid Walakira (Kawempe Republic president) and several other activists with her in the lead. Most of her colleagues have been detained at Wandegeya police station as her fans take it on social media to campaign her immediate release.
Some rumors have emerged indicating that she was arrested following a post she made about President Museveni’s mother.
We will update you about the developments.
