A slum neighboring Makerere University and the Law Development Centre has reportedly burnt up in flames after a fire broke out in the neighboring parts.
The ghetto which harbors a few rentals where students reside has exploded into flames and dwellers are struggling to put out the fire as many try to salvage a few properties from getting burnt. The slum area is neighbored by Pearl view hostel and the LDC.
Most students who are residents in the slums are unaware and are caught up at the University…They have not had the chance to save their property as they prepare for their forthcoming examinations.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established but it is believed to have been sparked off by a short circuit and fire brigades are seen approaching the area that has been cordoned off.
