A group of student-fans of Makerere University’s football club led by the Chief Fresher Mr. Sabaidu Ismael is in the final stages of filing a Court case challenging the recent expulsion of MAK from this year’s edition of the University Football League, Campus Bee can exclusively reveal.
This development follows the decision taken on 14 October by the Organizing Committee of the annual University Football League competition to expel MAK for the remainder of this year’s edition as well as ban it from participating in the 2018 edition.
Makerere was expelled from the competition after its fans allegedly invaded Busitema University’s Dining Hall on 14 October 2017 and forcefully ate Busitema’s food which resulted in chaos. The match that had been scheduled to take place between Busitema and Makerere at 2pm was subsequently called off.
In the suit that they will be filing before end of tomorrow, a draft of which Campus Bee has seen, the fans contend that Makerere’s expulsion from the University Football league was high-handed and unfair because the decision was made in secret without giving Makerere an opportunity to appear before the disciplinary committee and defend itself against the allegations. The fans consequently want the league to be stopped until Makerere University is re-instated.
Campus Bee shall bring you more information about this development.
