Makerere University Business School (Mubs) Education minister, Albert Arinda, has this evening dragged to police a yet to be identified conman who has been pretending to be a student with a kidney problem.
While speaking to this writer, Arinda said the conman has been in the campus the whole day and had so far received over Shs 600, 000 from the student’s whom he has been addressing as a fellow students, but in dire need of Shs 300, 000 to have a kidney transplant.
“The guy fooled every one since morning disguising as if he is paralised and can’t walk until I over questioned him and he contradicted what he had said before. This is when I called the Dean [of students] and we took him to police where he admitted all and apologised for being a conman,” Alinda said.
In his defence, the conman said he has been using this trick to get money and buy personal items because his own family abadoned him. He added that he had so far collected over Shs 800, 000 ever since.
Campus bee has however learnt that the ministers have ordered the Officer in Charge not to set the conman free because the angry students want to stone him dead.
The bee is buzzing and we are to keep you posted.
